Fly fishing equipment checklist

Below is a list of the key fishing gear items that you will need.

• Fly rod/s, reels, lines and spare spools
• Fly fishing vest containing, leaders and tippet, floatant and clippers
• Selection of dry flies and nymphs (a few #10 and #18, otherwise #12-16). Cicada/hopper patterns can be #8-10
• Lightweight waders and rubber soled boots (now a legal requirement - must be rubber soled)
• Quick dry long trousers and shirts, rain jacket warm jacket, wide brimmed hat or a cap
• Polaroid fishing glasses, sunscreen, camera and spare batteries or charger
• Day pack and a sense of humour!
